Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that following SIB course on:

Introduction to Bayesian statistics with R<https://www.sib.swiss/training/course/20221128_IBAYE>

which will take place on 28-30 November 2022, is now open for applications.

Data analysis is fundamental for reaching scientific conclusions and testing different model hypotheses. Key to this is understanding uncertainty in our results, and Bayesian statistics offers a framework to quantify and assess the variability in our inference from data.

This 3-day course will introduce you to the core concepts of Bayesian statistics through lectures and applied examples:

  * Days 1 & 2 (in person only, in Basel) will be dedicated to lectures and practical exercises using R and Rstan library. They will enable you to use standard Bayesian statistical tools and interpret your results.
  * Day 3 (online on Zoom) will host a series of talks by experts from SIB groups, who will present state-of-the-art Bayesian methods and their application in the life sciences.

You can either register for Day 3 only (free-of-charge, but registration is mandatory via this form<https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=KewaGuOxtEGL2iiKlpme_21YWKjkPbBBkP2NRGPf7v5UQVhNQTVRMFNTOFBCNFExME5TU1AyRko4Ui4u>), or apply for the three full days (fees apply, and registration is also mandatory. Link for application in the course page<https://www.sib.swiss/training/course/20221128_IBAYE>).

This course is addressed to:

  * any life scientists who is familiar with statistical inference and who would like to add the Bayesian perspective to enrich their research
  * PhD students, postdocs and other researchers, from any scientific environment (academia, facilities, companies, etc.)

Further detailed information, prerequisites and application forms are available here<https://www.sib.swiss/training/course/20221128_IBAYE>.

Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at training at sib.swiss<mailto:training at sib.swiss>

Best regards,
Patricia
