Dear all,

We would like to remind you that there are still a few available places for the following event:

Spring School "Bioinformatics and Computational Approaches in Microbiology"<https://www.sib.swiss/training/course/20220508-MICRO>
8-13 May 2022
Nottwil (Canton of Lucerne)

This School is co-organized by the SIB PhD Training Network<https://www.sib.swiss/training/who-can-benefit#for-phd-students>, NCCR Microbiomes<https://nccr-microbiomes.ch/> and NCCR AntiResist<https://www.nccr-antiresist.ch/en/>. Priority will be given to the members of the 3 co-organizers, but place remain available for external participants. Your profile/skills will be evaluated with a survey that you will receive after application.

Both NCCR programs, Microbiomes and AntiResist, share similar scientific interests and overall a common goal — improving human health by understanding the physiology of microbiomes and bacteria. Importantly, both NCCRs generate large amounts of high-throughput data, which combined with appropriate statistical, mathematical and computational tools will provide new insights into each biological system. The goal of this joint School is to provide PhD students and postdocs with theoretical and mostly hands-on knowledge on selected topics about microbiome and antibiotics resistance. In particular, the participants will be split into four groups to work on mini-projects, which will address the following topics:

  * Project 1: Modeling antibiotic resistance evolution.
  * Project 2: Computational image analysis: transforming images into insights.
  * Project 3: Profiling and modeling the colorectal cancer microbiome.
  * Project 4: Mathematical modeling of bacterial metabolism.
