Dear all,

We are pleased to announce the following two SIB courses:

Version Control with Git – First Steps
<https://www.sib.swiss/training/course/2021-01-git-1>14 January 2021

Version Control with Git – Advanced Topics
<https://www.sib.swiss/training/course/2021-01-git-2>15 January 2021

Streamed from Lausanne and Geneva.

With a constant evolution of technologies, life scientists (such as laboratory biologists) are faced with an increasing need for bioinformatics skills to deal with high-throughput data storage, retrieval and analysis. Although several resources developed for such tasks have a web interface (most of the time, the first choice of biologists), many operations can be more efficiently handled with command-line programs and utilities.

Git is an open source, distributed, version control system for tracking changes in source code and other types of text documents like data analysis scripts and pipelines.

The first course will give an introduction to git and its most useful commands. The second course is a follow-up of the first one, but we have preferred to propose 2 separate registrations to allow more flexibility, especially for those who have already basic knowledge and would like to attend only the second day.

Before applying, please read CAREFULLY the learning objectives and the prerequisites section on both course description pages.

Any question? Don't hesitate to contact us at training at sib.swiss<mailto:training at sib.swiss>.

Best wishes,
Gregoire
