Dear all,

SIB and ZHAW are organizing a joint summer school on *Genomics and 
Evolution of Microbial Pathogens* that will take place from 24 August to 
4 September 2015 in Wädenswil.

Bioinformatics is a fast-growing field that develops computational 
methods for life sciences. Genomics relies heavily on good 
bioinformatics resources. The summer school GEMP 2015 is open to 
researchers interested in applying bioinformatics to genomic studies of 
microbial pathogens. While the course focuses on plant pathogens, 
genomic aspects of human pathogens will also be presented, and the 
discussed methodology which is widely applicable.

GEMP 2015 offers a combination of lectures, exercises and discussions 
around problems arising with real NGS data. Participants will acquire 
practical experience of handling large NGS data with a variety of free 
and commercial software packages. As a highlight of the course, 
internationally renowned experts will present their work on pathogen 
genomics in a mini-symposium.
