Please find below a reminder on a new SIB course entitled:

*"Data sharing in proteomics: databases, repositories, standards, data 
submission".*

This 2.5-day course will be held at the SIB Swiss Institute of 
Bioinformatics in Lausanne from the 20th to the 22nd of November 2013.
Targeted for proteomics scientists and bioinformaticians, it will 
describe existing mechanisms for publishing and sharing their data (in 
particular Mass Spectrometry derived ones). It will also describe 
relationships between data, data repositories, knowkedgebases 
(UniProtKB, neXtProt) and publishers.

The course will cover various aspects of the data sharing process:

  * How experimental data is used to annotate knowledgebases such as
    UniProtKB and neXtProt?
  * What from these resources is available for MS-based data analysis
    (not only fasta files)?
  * What is ProteomeXchange and how does it help to publishing datasets ?
  * The PRIDE and PASSEL data repositories
  * The use of data standards (HUPO-PSI)
  * Importance of data deposition from a journal editor's point of view
  * Selected use cases in proteogenomics, quantitation, large datasets
    (SWATH) and reuse of repository data will illustrate advantages and
    limitations of this mechanism.


The course is organized by the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics

(www.proteomexchange.org).
