Dear all,

We are pleased to announce the SIB workshop entitled:

"SPARQLing biological data in RDF: a practical introduction for
bioinformaticians".

This one-day workshop will be held in Lausanne on the 30th of October 2013.

You will learn how to work with data using RDF and SPARQL. This
practical course will cover the core concepts of the semantic web:

  * model data, using semantic web concepts.
  * find information in the data with SPARQL.
  * use data in RDF and the query language SPARQL in combination with
common tools such as R, Excel and command line tools.
  * use public sparql endpoints to quickly enrich your own data.

Participants should bring their own computers and virtualbox installed.

The course is organized by the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics,
and the speakers are from the Vital-IT and Swiss-Prot groups.
Further information and the registration are available from:
http://edu.isb-sib.ch/course/view.php?id=160

The number of seats is limited.

Hope to see you there!

For the organizers,
Diana Marek
