We are pleased to announce a new SIB Bioinformatics Workshop 2012 entitled:
"SPARQLing biological data in RDF: a practical introduction for bioinformaticians"
The goal of the workshop, to be held on Monday November 5, 2012, is to learn how to work with data using RDF and SPARQL.
Participants will be presented the core concepts of the semantic web and how to make it work for them. In addition, the course will cover the following:
• model data, using semantic web concepts.
• find information in the data with SPARQL.
• use data in RDF and the query language SPARQL in combination with common tools such as R, Excel and command line tools.
• use public sparql endpoints to quickly enrich your own data.
At the end, there will be a brief but practical discussion about how to evolve from small applications to industrial strength production tools.
Registration is now open.
For the organizers,
