Dear All,

We are pleased to announce the next SIB Bioinformatics Workshop  
entitled: "UNIX Basics - 2010".

This workshop, to be held on Friday 26 November, aims to introduce  
participants to the main concepts of the UNIX Operating System as well  
as to provide the basic skills needed to work in a UNIX environment.  
After the workshop, participants should be familiar with the basics of  
the UNIX environment, their user account, the manipulation of  
directories and files (including permissions), useful everyday  
commands, etc.

The target audience is the biomedical research community with no  
particular programming knowledge.

Please note that this workshop is recommended to anyone who is  
interested in participating in the upcoming "Perl Programming for Life  
Sciences - 2011" workshop.

The SIB Bioinformatics Workshops are organized by the Swiss Institute  
of Bioinformatics and the Centre for Integrative Genomics. They are  
open to everyone but the number of participants is usually limited to  
24. Graduate students will in addition receive credit for  
participating, provided that they attend at least four workshops and  
submit to a small exam at the end of each workshop.
