Dear Users,

Courses in 2005 (registration opened)
---------------

The Swiss EMBnet node, hosted by the SIB, organizes an advanced four
days course in Molecular Modeling at the Biozentrum, University of Basel,
from October 10 to 13, 2005.

The course will cover both concepts of molecular modeling and
simulation, and advanced topics from current research in protein
folding, enzymatic function and molecular recognition.
It is addressed to biochemistry, biology, chemistry or physics
graduate students and research scientists interested in molecular
modeling and computer simulation.
Attendees will work through short tutorials on the topics discussed
in the class.

Note that the registration deadline is October 3, 2005 and that the
number of participants is limited to 20.
More information about the course are available at:
http://www.ch.embnet.org/CoursEMBnet/Basel05/Introduction.html

This course is organized with the support of the Swiss Committee for
Molecular Biology (SKMB) (http://www.usgeb.ch/skmb.html).

EMBL release 84 is available
----------------------------

The EMBL Nucleotide Sequence Database was frozen to make Release 84 on
24-AUG-2005. The release contains 58,758,902 sequence entries
comprising 107,562,580,723 nucleotides,of which 11,106,066 entries
(55,608,219,735 nucleotides) are WGS (whole genome shotgun) data.

The release 84 files total 53 GB compressed.
